Harsimus Cove Association ?
We are a Downtown Jersey City neighborhood association that was formed in 1999 to provide a forum and a voice for residents within our boundaries. We love living in Harsimus Cove, and we’re working together to make our great neighborhood even better. The HCA is a member of the Downtown Coalition of Neighborhood Associations whose other members are the other historic districts in the area: the Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association, the Historic Paulus Hook Association and the Van Vorst Park Association. These four groups band together on issues that affect us all.
Where Is
Harsimus Cove?
Harsimus Cove is in the Historic Downtown section of Jersey City, a few minutes’ walk from the new high-rise waterfront developments and the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. City Hall is a few blocks south of us, and we are nestled between the historic Hamilton Park and Van Vorst Park districts. From our Grove Street PATH station, we are minutes away from Manhattan. The HCA takes in the area from Newark Avenue to Fifth Street and from Marin Boulevard to the east side of Monmouth Street. The legally designated historic district called Harsimus Cove is actually smaller than the area we chose to include. It has an irregular shape, but it is approximately from the north side of Bay Street to Fifth Street, and from west of the buildings on Grove Street to Coles Street.

Who can join ?
Membership in the HCA is open to people who live within the boundaries. An individual’s actual membership begins after his or her first meeting. We don’t collect any dues, and all expenses are paid for from the advertisements on the back of our newsletter.
Even people who aren’t eligible to become members are welcome to attend our meetings. We welcome local business owners, residents of nearby neighborhoods and all other guests.
