The Litter Patrol: Coming to a Gutter Near You!

Want to do something about litter in Harsimus Cove?  Join the Litter Patrol!

The Harsimus Cove Association is starting a new program to help keep our neighborhood tidy.  

Here's how it works.

We'll meet every couple of weekends at the starting point for that day's patrol.  We'll send out an email about it as well as posting it on our calendar, Facebook and Twitter.  If you want to be sure that you receive the email announcement, please send us a note to be sure you're included. 

Keep an eye on the calendar for scheduled Litter Patrols.

We'll keep it brief.  We're aiming for 90 minutes.  We thing that's the sweet spot for being effective without being burdensome.  Saturdays at 11:30 sounds good to us.  And don't think you have to show up every weekend.  Show up when you can.

You bring yourself, we'll bring the bags.  In addition to showing up, we highly recommend you come equipped with one of the following "kits":

• Gloves & bucket (available at Downtown True Value)
• Gloves, broom & long-handled dust pan (available at Downtown True Value)
• Gloves & a "grabber" (available at Bed, Bath & Beyond)

We'll have a big trash bag on wheels.  Having a bucket will allow you to collect more at once, returning to the big trash bag to empty your bucket when full.

Fun for the entire family.  Kids love picking up trash.  Why not put them to work and teach them community stewardship at the same time?
