What is Urban Garden Design and How Can it Work for You?

Emma Lam is a garden designer and the owner of A Small Green Space, a Jersey City based urban garden design, installation and maintenance company specializing in small city outdoor spaces. No matter how tiny the space, (or the budget), with a little guidance, creativity and inspiration your space, (be it a patio, balcony, roof deck, garden or cement corridor), can become a place to escape from the busy city life.

Garden Design looks at a space and the people using it and creates a environment that fits them and optimizes its potential. Good design helps us transform an unused space into a play-area, a patio, an edible garden, a quiet nook to read a book, or a place for the family pets. These elements are tied together so that one flows seamlessly into the next making a cohesive, useful environment.
